About Us

Because we understand a parent's heart... the beginning means everything.

Our Inspiration

Bangkok Kids was founded by a family who believes that “Healthy development begins on the very first day of life.”

When we became parents, we realized that a child’s most crucial period is before they can even speak—yet it is the time they learn the most.

We discovered that swimming is not merely an activity or a survival skill. It is a vital space that nurtures the brain, body, and mind. Above all, it provides a precious moment for parents to “truly be present” with their little ones.

We created Bangkok Kids out of love, understanding, and a sincere desire to see every child grow in an environment that is warm, safe, and filled with happiness.

“We want every child to grow up confident, happy, and feeling as safe in the water as they are in their parents’ embrace.

And this is why we remain dedicated to caring for every family… with the same heart as our very first day.”

Our Expertise

Delivered through real experience, continuous training, and meticulous attention to detail.

Bangkok Kids follows the curriculum of Birthlight UK, a renowned British organization specializing in infant swimming and prenatal aquatic exercise. Our founder has undergone extensive training with Birthlight UK, as well as receiving certifications from STA (UK) and ASTCA (Thailand).

We have systematically adapted this world-class knowledge to perfectly suit the context of Thai children. Every class you see today is the result of thousands of hours of real-world teaching, testing, and refinement.

Our teacher training program is rigorous and continuous. We focus deeply on theory, child development, parent communication, and extensive practical training to ensure that:

“Every instructor doesn’t just teach, but truly understands the nature of the child.”

“Beyond the expertise of our instructors, we place equal importance on the quality of our water.

Bangkok Kids utilizes a filtration system that meets drinking water standards. We maintain a constant, warm temperature of 32–34°C, which is perfect for newborns. Furthermore, our ‘Bad Chlorine Free’ system eliminates chlorine residue from both the water and the air to ensure long-term safety.

Because we know… little ones need gentleness from both their ‘teachers’ and their ‘learning environment’.”

A Word from the Expert

"The joy of tiny triumphs."

“The beaming face of a little one swimming just a few meters into their parents’ arms brings me immense joy.

But witnessing a once-shy child summon the courage to jump from the poolside—without needing to hold onto a parent’s finger—is a victory just as beautiful.”

Dr. Françoise Freedman

Dr. Françoise is the pioneer of the “Gentle Approach,” a philosophy that harmoniously integrates ancient wisdom with modern science to promote the physical and mental well-being of mothers and children through yoga, baby swimming, and gentle parenting. Her inspiration was drawn from her own experiences of pregnancy, motherhood, and time spent living among indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest.

At Bangkok Kids, Teacher Rose and Teacher Ann traveled to England to study directly under Dr. Françoise. They have brought this philosophy back to develop a swimming curriculum for toddlers that prioritizes gentleness, safety, and the parent-child bond.

We are proud to uphold the legacy of one of the world’s leading pioneers in Baby Swimming, ensuring that children grow with confidence and happiness at every stage of their learning journey.

Amanda Gawthrope

A leading expert in the Birthlight UK Gentle Approach to infant swimming.

With over 30 years of teaching experience, Amanda is internationally recognized across Europe and Asia as a premier swimming teacher trainer. She is renowned for her focus on safety, gentleness, and deep respect for each child’s individual developmental pace.

Teacher Rose and Teacher Ann of Bangkok Kids had the privilege of studying under Amanda in both the UK and Thailand. Her mentorship became the key inspiration behind our curriculum design—focusing on building the parent-child bond through play and natural movement in water.

We are deeply honored to have learned from such a distinguished mentor and to bring her profound philosophy to families in Thailand.

FAQs

Because every new beginning for your little one should be filled with understanding and confidence.

We fully understand that parents have many questions before committing to swim lessons, ranging from the appropriate age and teaching methods to the crucial matter of pool safety.

That is why Bangkok Kids has compiled these Frequently Asked Questions, with clear, honest answers provided by our experienced instructor team.

However, if you have specific questions regarding your child, we invite you to speak directly with our team at your nearest branch. Because some answers are best conveyed through personal guidance rather than just written text.

When can my child swim independently?

Most children achieve independent swimming (swimming by themselves) around 2.5–3.5 years of age, provided they attend lessons consistently.

At this stage, they are typically able to float, move, and breathe independently in the water, but they cannot yet master full, standard swimming strokes.

Around the age of 4, children begin learning basic swimming strokes in the “Beginner Swimmer” class, which still primarily focuses on fun and confidence in the water.

Children who start swimming early receive holistic developmental stimulation, enhancing muscular strength, brain function, balance, and physical coordination.

Furthermore, aquatic activities help boost immunity, improve focus, and strengthen the parent-child bond.

Global research also finds that children who participate in early swimming tend to have higher Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and self-confidence compared to the average.

It is absolutely not too early!

Newborns retain a natural familiarity with the water environment (similar to their time in the womb)

This period, especially 0–12 months, is the vital window when the nervous system and brain are most receptive to new learning.

Therefore, instructors strongly recommend beginning lessons right from 0 months of age.

It is absolutely not too late! At four years old, children have the advanced physical and communication skills that make them highly ready to learn.

They can confidently begin their swimming training in our 25-48r class, ensuring they continue to enjoy learning in an age-appropriate format.

Parents can rest assured. Our pool maintains a constant warm temperature year-round and utilizes a water system that meets drinking water safety standards.

Most children who attend our lessons rarely experience illness afterwards, as aquatic exercise also helps boost immunity. Simple aftercare—just drying them off, blow-drying their hair, and routine care—is all that is required after class.
